In this session, we discuss the urge to overeat when life is unfair. Seeking a form of compensation when people feel victimized by life is a common reason dieters emotionally eat. The combination of feeling bad about your body, believing you need to lose weight, agreeing to future food restrictions, and feeling bad about a life stress promotes pleasure seeking behavior with food and overeating. Because there is a future diet that will "fix" the consequential fat gain, over eating for emotional reasons is justified and rationalized.
