BINGE EATING: COMPARING YOUR LIFE TO OTHERS AND FEELING LIKE IT SUCKS

In the process of fully and permanently letting go of wanting to be thin, she is struggling to let go of the idea that leaner and thinner people are better and more superior people. As she continues to feel bad about herself because of her body fat, weight, and size, her desire to find something in the moment to feel better is goes up. In the past she's used narcotics...now she uses food---specifically "bad" food. We discuss how she's viewed different aspects of her life in a way that brings her feelings of inferiority, as if her life experience is lesser and worse than others. Ultimately, her cravings and desires to feel better are higher. BINGE EATING: WANTING TO LOSE WEIGHT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE

When you quit trying to lose weight in order to relieve the strain of bingeing and over eating, it is common to be triggered to diet when others around you are on that bandwagon. The idea that others are going to achieve the mirage of thinness and the glamour of "success" through weight loss, can bring out the power of the illusion of "betterness." Ultimately, if you struggle with this, you'll need to see the ideal as a mirage and recognize that even when reached, the mirage requires isolation, fixation on food, stricter restrictions, and paranoia about weight gain. EATING DISORDERS: WHEN RECOVERY FEELS IMPOSSIBLE

She is struggling and wants to go back to dieting as if it is the only way to survive. So many people swing between wanting to eat emotionally, and wanting to restrict food in order to feel a sense of balance. However, that balance is toxic and requires a huge swing between bingeing and over restricting. BINGE EATING: ACCEPTING PHYSICAL PAIN AND REJECTION IN ORDER TO RECOVER

When you humbly accept loss and surrender, survival mechanisms relax, and a new existence opens up to how the mind works. This space is more gracious, lenient, risk taking, less forceful, nondualistic, expansive, and enjoyable. This client has suffered greatly seeking to prove herself...this is the beginning of her experience with true self acceptance feeling how the mind works outside of survival mode. "This is a continuation of the conversation about accepting body fat, extra weight, physical stress, and emotional loss when surrendering all forms of diets. Giving weight-loss methods up for good is the only way to remove overeating triggers that stem from food restriction (threat to the first hierarchy of need). To come out of survival mode, one must surrender to the threats and perceived dangers that trigger survival mode. This client has experienced freedom from the pressure to lose weight, but goes back into suffering when she thinks about accepting her body fat permanently.
