ED RECOVERY: REJECTING SHAME AND ACCEPTING TRUTH

THIS SESSION IS SOOOOOO GOOD !!! In this session, this client opens up about trying to question her negative internal dialog about herself. Her inner shame and beliefs that she is "bad" is a main reason she has suffered with depression and isolation. The goal has been to recognize the lies of judgment. Those lies don't allow for reality, as if they are fantasy based and don't include human nature. This is a cognitive distortion that comes from how the mind changes when in fight or flight. Robin wrote about this is her books Diet Supremacy: The Toxic Bond Between Shame, Dieting, and Emotional Eating, and  Body Supremacy: Exploring the Torments of Eating Disorders as a Syndrome. BINGE EATING DISORDER: FACING FEAR INSTEAD OF EATING

In this session, this client describes having to spend thanksgiving with her mean and judgmental grandfather. She found herself being critical of her kids and family in fear of being criticized by him. This is a great example of vulnerable narcissism. Robin describes this relationship in her book Body Supremacy: Exploring the Torments of Eating Disorders as a Syndrome. FEAR, ADDICTION, AND BINGE EATING DISORDER RECOVERY

This client has worked with Robin for about a year. She suffered greatly with binge eating and past addiction. She had intense shame that lead her to isolate, but also to overcompensate in hopes to feel better. Life was experienced with big highs and a sense of "all", and big lows and a sense of "nothing". Robin describes this in her book, Diet Supremacy: The Toxic Bond Between Shame, Dieting, and Emotional Eating.
